Our verdict

Scag Cheetah II 61

The Cheetah II is Scag's speed machine, and it backs the badge with real engineering. A two-speed ZT-5400 transaxle gives it a genuine 16 mph in high range, the Velocity Plus deck cuts cleanly even at pace, and a set of adjustable dampeners lets you dial the ride from firm to soft depending on the ground. An EFI engine keeps it easy to start and lighter on fuel. This is a contractor's tool at a contractor's price, and 16 mph is far more than any normal lawn asks for. On big, open, mostly flat ground where finishing fast is the whole point, few machines cover grass like this one.
