Our verdict

Toro Z Master 6000 60

Toro 72960 is a seated commercial mower whose useful distinction is the combination of an adjustable deck baffle and a suspension-equipped operator station. Consider it when a 60-inch machine fits the route and the dealer can demonstrate how its adjustments apply to your mowing conditions.

Identify the current 72960 package

Toro's current Canadian product page lists a 31 gross hp, 999cc Kawasaki FX engine, a 60-inch 7-gauge TURBO FORCE deck and unitized hydraulic pumps and wheel motors. Published forward speed is 11.5 mph; fuel capacity is 12 US gallons. Neither number establishes completed acres per hour or fuel endurance.

Older listings can show different engine ratings. Match the model and serial range before ordering parts or comparing a used example with this configuration. The Z Master 5000 60 is a useful same-width alternative to compare on the complete quote.

Ask for a baffle demonstration

The tool-free discharge baffle changes the deck's airflow arrangement. Ask the dealer to show the prescribed settings and adjustment procedure from the operator manual. Do not treat a setting intended for one condition as a universal best position.

Bring a description of your normal cutting height, grass condition and clipping-handling needs to that discussion. A demonstration on representative turf would be more informative than a horsepower comparison alone. Our equipment assessment does not establish a tested finish advantage.

Fit the seat and plan overhead clearance

The deluxe suspension seat has isolation mounts and armrests. Adjust it before checking steering reach and pedal access. Seat suspension should not be confused with suspension at every wheel.

Folding ROPS and a seat belt are part of the package. Our ROPS and seat-belt guide explains why route height deserves attention before delivery; a folding bar is not a reason to ignore overhead obstacles.

The listed warranty gives the 6000 machine five years/1,400 hours, with no hour limit during the first two years. Engine and wear-item terms are separate. Our buying view: shortlist this model for its deck adjustment and operator fit, then compare the exact equipment, service arrangements and delivered cost. Research checked October 18, 2026.

Our ZT Score

8.2/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.

  • Cut quality (30%): 8.4/10. Adjustable baffle and substantial deck provide configuration options; finish remains untested.
  • Build & durability (25%): 8.4/10. 7-gauge deck and unitized hydraulic drive support a commercial equipment assessment, not a lifespan forecast.
  • Comfort (20%): 8.2/10. Suspension seat, isolation and armrests support fit; no measured vibration comparison exists.
  • Value (15%): 7.6/10. The package can suit sustained commercial use, conditional on price and support.
  • Ease of use (10%): 8.0/10. Accessible baffle adjustment is useful, while correct settings and ROPS clearance require attention.

Provisional research-based editorial assessment of documented equipment, not a hands-on test. We have not measured cut finish, comfort, fuel use or durability. Model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian quotes were not established; value depends on the complete quote and workload.
