Our verdict
Toro Z Master 5000 (60-in)
The Z Master 5000 is Toro's value commercial workhorse, and the deck is the reason to buy it. Its TURBO FORCE deck uses 7-gauge steel that Toro says is a third thicker and stronger than the 10-gauge on lighter commercial mowers, with an adjustable baffle to fine-tune the cut for different turf. Commercial unitized pumps and wheel motors drive it, a deluxe suspension seat with 3-D isolators soaks up the day, and EFI versions cut fuel use by around a quarter. It is dealer-sold at a commercial price and wants open ground. For a landscaper or a large property that needs a Toro built to run hard and cut clean for years, it earns its keep.
