The standard TimeCutter 50 is the sensible middle of Toro's homeowner line, and the deck is the reason to buy it. Rather than the stamped steel common at this price, it uses Toro's IronForged fabricated deck with a reinforced leading edge, which holds up far better over years of hard knocks. Smart Speed lets you slow near beds without losing blade speed, the step-through front makes hopping off easy, and a Kawasaki twin keeps it reliable. What you do not get at this trim is the MyRIDE platform suspension or serviceable commercial transaxles. For a flat lawn up to a couple of acres where cut quality and the Toro dealer network matter, it is an easy pick.
