Kubota ZD1011-48 Diesel

The ZD1011-48 is a compact diesel option for a buyer who wants Kubota's hydraulic deck lift and ZD1000 platform but has no use for a 60-inch cutting pass. Its 48-inch ProDeck and 19.3 gross-hp D782 engine make it a different configuration from the ZD1021-60, which has a larger engine and wider deck.

A narrow cut is not a narrow overall mower

Kubota's 2026 US turf catalogue lists 61.6 inches overall with the mower chute for the 48-inch version. It also lists 1,296 pounds with the mower. Those figures matter when planning storage and transport: do not choose this machine on the assumption that a 48-inch deck fits a 48-inch opening.

Measure the supplied machine in its permitted transport configuration and include attachment weight in a trailer calculation. The smaller cutting pass can be useful around landscaping, but it also adds passes on open lawns. Our gate-width guide helps separate cutting width from usable access.

Know which lift you are buying

Hydraulic deck lift is part of the mowing equipment. Kubota's separate maintenance lift, which raises the front for prescribed service access, is optional on the ZD1000 series. Do not treat those two features as the same item on a quote.

The ZD brochure also describes a service hatch providing access to the deck belt, gearbox and related areas. Shaft-drive PTO does not mean the complete cutting system contains no belts. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the correct access and securing procedure before deciding which maintenance tasks you will perform.

Compare diesel ownership at your actual hours

The D782 is a 778cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder diesel. Dual HST transmissions with gear reduction provide propulsion; the listed forward maximum is nine mph. The six-US-gallon tank cannot establish runtime without consumption data for the work.

Use the diesel-versus-gas checklist to compare acquisition cost, fuel supply and servicing. A diesel engine is not evidence of lower total cost for an occasional-use property.

The suspension seat deserves an operator trial, including pedal and lever reach. We have not measured comfort or cut quality. Kubota's 2026 US warranty guide lists 24 months of basic limited coverage for this ZD category, including the deck; confirm Canadian terms locally. Shortlist the ZD1011 when the smaller diesel package meets the route, then verify the complete footprint and service equipment.
