Kubota Z723KH-3-48 Kohler Command PRO
The Z723KH-3-48 puts Kubota's Z700 commercial platform around a 48-inch deck and a Kohler Command PRO engine. It is worth considering when a seated commercial machine fits the work but a wider deck would complicate the route. The complete model suffix matters: this assessment follows the configuration listed in Kubota's 2025 US full-line brochure.
Match the engine and transmission
The factory specification table identifies the 22.5 gross-hp CV682, 694cc displacement and dual Parker HTG14 transmissions. It lists a forward maximum of 11.2 mph. That is a travel limit, not evidence of acceptable finish at full speed.
The Z411KW-48 is another 48-inch Kubota in our catalogue, but its Kawasaki engine and Hydro-Gear drive make it a different comparison. Obtain quotes for exact equipment rather than treating equal cutting width as equal specification.
Try the deck controls and suspension
The Z723's fabricated deck is six inches deep and adjusts from one to five inches in quarter-inch steps. A mechanical foot lift handles deck raising. Check pedal effort, seated reach and the height-selection process during a demonstration.
Kubota lists the premium suspension seat as standard on this configuration. That is different from assuming every older Z700 brochure or used machine has the same seat. Inspect the actual mower and use our seat-suspension guide to separate the supplied seat from chassis suspension. We have not tested ride isolation or fatigue.
Measure more than the cut
The factory table lists 61.3 inches overall with the mower. A nominal 48-inch deck therefore does not establish passage through a 48-inch opening. Check the complete width in the manufacturer's permitted transport position and the space needed to turn after entering.
Fuel capacity is 11.6 US gallons. It cannot establish runtime without fuel-consumption evidence for the job. Avoid paying for a presumed daily time saving based only on tank size or maximum travel speed.
Confirm the regional warranty
Kubota's Z700 brochure advertises two years with unlimited hours for commercial use and four years/750 hours for residential use in the US, subject to the complete terms. Canadian buyers should obtain their applicable local coverage rather than carry those figures across the border.
Ask the dealer to put the model suffix, supplied seat, service schedule and warranty on the quote. The case for this mower is its specific 48-inch commercial package; a price advantage or longer life has not been established.
Our ZT Score
7.9/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.
- Cut quality (30%): 7.9/10. Fabricated six-inch-deep deck and quarter-inch adjustment support setup; actual finish remains untested.
- Build & durability (25%): 8.1/10. Parker HTG14 drive and commercial deck support repeated work, without measured durability.
- Comfort (20%): 8.0/10. Standard suspension seat supports operator adjustment; isolation has not been measured.
- Value (15%): 7.3/10. The commercial package may fit compact routes, but local price comparisons are absent.
- Ease of use (10%): 7.8/10. Foot deck lift and height selection support routine use; pedal reach and access need checking.
Provisional research-based editorial judgement, not a hands-on test. Cut quality, ride, productivity and service life have not been measured. Model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian prices were not established. Value depends on application and local support.
