What owners love

  • +48-inch Accel Deep deck has a strong reputation for cut quality
  • +23 HP V-twin gives the 48-inch deck comfortable power
  • +20-inch high-back seat with armrests is excellent for this class
  • +LED lights, front bumper, rear hitch and covered storage are standard
  • +Strong John Deere dealer network, parts support and resale value

Worth knowing

  • 200-hour warranty cap is restrictive for frequent mowing
  • Costs more than many 48-inch residential competitors
  • Hydro-Gear EZT-D drive is aimed at homeowner hours rather than commercial use
Our verdict

John Deere Z330R (48-in)

The Z330R 48 is a polished residential Deere for homeowners who care about cut quality, comfort and dealer support. The 48-inch Accel Deep deck is large enough to cover ground without making the mower awkward around landscaping, and the 23 HP engine is well matched to it. Deere also includes a better seat, LED lights, a bumper and a hitch instead of treating them as upgrades. The main drawback is value. You pay a premium and the 200-hour warranty cap is not generous. For a property up to about two acres, though, it is one of the more complete residential packages in the Z300 range.
