Our verdict

Hustler Super SF 60 Kawasaki EFI

Super SF 60 is a large commercial stand-on, not an access-focused alternative to a compact seated mower. Its useful features are the electric deck lift and substantial hydraulic package; whether those features improve a route depends on the actual jobs and operator.

Specify the Kawasaki EFI version

Hustler's current specifications list the 60-inch version with a 38.5 hp, 999cc Kawasaki FX1000 EFI. Dealer model identification for that combination is 943506. Do not apply Vanguard Oil Guard service claims from older family literature to the Kawasaki engine.

Hydro-Gear 21cc pumps and Parker TG wheel motors drive the machine. The dual tanks hold 13.9 US gallons in total. Tank size is useful for comparing fuel-carrying capacity, but it does not establish hours between fills without measured consumption for the job.

Demonstrate the deck controls and operator support

The manufacturer specification sheet describes the fabricated 7-gauge VX deck and an adjustable operator pad. An electric actuator handles deck lift, with a published cutting-height range of 2–5.5 inches.

Have the dealer demonstrate the controls and prescribed adjustment procedure. Assess the standing position, steering reach and normal stopping routine as well as the convenience of moving the deck. An electric lift does not establish that the machine will be less tiring for every operator.

Compare the Ferris Z3X 52 if you are also considering an adjustable suspension platform and a narrower cutting swath. The standing-versus-seated guide helps organize that demonstration without assuming a universal comfort winner.

Keep speed and access in perspective

The maximum is 15 mph, or up to 10 mph with the limiter. Neither setting is a recommended pace for every lawn. Our acres-per-hour guide explains how manufacturer efficiency assumptions differ from measured route time.

Hustler publishes 79.2 inches of length and 61.6 inches of width with the chute up for this deck. Confirm the permitted configuration and full route; a chute-up figure is not permission to cut without discharge protection.

Our buying view: consider Super SF 60 for open commercial work where a large standing machine is practical. Compare the delivered equipment and five-year/1,200-hour limited coverage, including the first two years without an hour cap. Research checked October 19, 2026; no tested productivity advantage is claimed.

Our ZT Score

8.1/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.

  • Cut quality (30%): 8.3/10. Substantial VX deck and electric height selection support capability; actual finish is untested.
  • Build & durability (25%): 8.5/10. Separate 21cc pumps and wheel motors support a substantial commercial package without a longevity claim.
  • Comfort (20%): 7.8/10. Adjustable operator support provides fit options, but prolonged standing comfort remains untested.
  • Value (15%): 7.5/10. Hydraulics and lift may justify the package on suitable routes, conditional on total price and support.
  • Ease of use (10%): 8.0/10. Electric deck adjustment and speed limiting are useful, balanced against a large footprint and operator training needs.

Provisional research-based editorial assessment of documented equipment, not a hands-on test. We have not measured cut finish, ride, fuel use or durability. Reliable model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian quotes were not established. Value depends on the complete price, workload and local support.
