Gravely Pro-Turn 672 Kawasaki
A 72-inch mower is a route decision as much as an equipment decision. The Pro-Turn 672 makes sense to investigate when you repeatedly mow large open areas and can accommodate its complete footprint. This review covers 992502, the carbureted Kawasaki configuration, so its specifications should not be mixed with the higher-output EFI variant.
What the 672 adds
Gravely's current Pro-Turn 600 sheet specifies a 35 hp, 999cc FX1000V, Parker HTG drive and a 72-inch X-Factor 3 deck. The shell uses 7-gauge steel with additional spindle reinforcement. Maximum forward speed is approximately 15 mph.
The deck and drive package distinguish it from the Pro-Turn 260 already in our catalog. A larger model is worthwhile only if its equipment removes a recurring limitation on your work; an impressive maximum speed does not establish a good cutting pace for your grass.
Understand the operator pod
The documented comfort system suspends the operator pod and includes a high-back bolstered seat. That describes isolation for the operator, not independent suspension at every wheel. The same sheet lists a fixed front axle.
Ask for a demonstration that lets you set the controls and seat correctly. Check what reaches your feet as well as what reaches the seat. Our suspension guide explains why those observations can differ.
The footprint is the first practical test
The sheet lists 87 inches with the chute and a machine weight of 1,646 pounds for 992502. Establish the actual supplied dimensions and load before planning transport. Include the other tools and equipment carried rather than assessing the mower in isolation.
Walk the route and identify any areas that this deck cannot reach. During a demo, count those areas as unfinished work rather than ignoring them when comparing elapsed time. Our deck-construction guide also explains why heavier steel alone cannot settle contour handling or finish quality.
Our buying view
Compare the 672 with the Ferris IS 6200 72 if both large-deck gas and diesel packages are under consideration. Compare actual support and ownership costs without assuming either fuel type will save money.
Gravely lists five years/1,500 hours, with no hour limit in the first two years, and separate limited-lifetime deck-shell and frame coverage. Read the applicable terms. We have not verified a delivered US or Canadian price, so the value score remains provisional.
Research checked October 8, 2026: current US listing and its model sheet. EFI model 992504 is not the configuration reviewed here.
Our ZT Score
8.3/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.
- Cut quality (30%): 8.6/10. The reinforced X-Factor 3 is a substantial open-site deck design, without a measured advantage in finish or mowing speed.
- Build & durability (25%): 8.8/10. Parker HTG drive and reinforced commercial construction support sustained-work suitability; warranty length is not treated as lifespan.
- Comfort (20%): 8.5/10. The suspended pod addresses the operator platform, with no credit for independent suspension at every wheel.
- Value (15%): 7.0/10. Its scale needs regular useful work to justify the purchase; a current delivered quote and measured route benefit are unavailable.
- Ease of use (10%): 7.6/10. Height selection and operator isolation help routine work, but the very wide footprint and transport weight impose meaningful limits.
Provisional editorial assessment of the documented configuration, not a hands-on test. We have not established reliable model-specific owner consensus or measured comparative cut quality, comfort or longevity. Value is conditional on a current delivered quote for the same equipment and use. No such US or Canadian dealer quote was verified.
