Our verdict

Gravely PRO-TURN 560 FX1000V 60

A PRO-TURN 560 quotation needs a model number as well as the series name. 992534 identifies the 60-inch, 35 hp Kawasaki FX1000V package reviewed here. Gravely also lists a 560 with a 38.5 hp EFI engine under number 992530. They should not be merged when comparing equipment, engine requirements or price.

The deck and drive package

Gravely's model page links the current commercial catalog and PRO-TURN 500 specification sheet. Together they identify the 999cc engine, Parker HTG transaxles and 60-inch X-Factor 3 deck. The deck uses 7-gauge steel with quarter-inch spindle reinforcement and offers a one- to 5.5-inch cutting-height range.

The current catalog and specification table list a 15-mph maximum. An introductory paragraph in the separate sell sheet still gives a lower speed, so we use the current catalog specification and recommend confirming the supplied machine with the dealer. Neither figure establishes the speed at which your particular grass can be cut well.

Air suspension deserves a personal fit check

The 500 series includes an air-ride seat with lumbar support and padded armrests. Set it up for the operator before evaluating the steering controls or lift. Seat suspension does not establish that the whole chassis has independent suspension; the seat-versus-chassis guide explains the distinction.

Ask the dealer to demonstrate routine access to the hydraulic filters and service points. Their accessibility is more useful to evaluate than a general promise of easy maintenance. The published fuel capacity is 13.5 US gallons; actual refuelling intervals depend on the work and consumption.

Quote the attachments separately

The manufacturer lists electric deck lift, mulching and powered collection equipment among accessories. Include the required parts and installation on the quote rather than assuming they accompany the base mower. The dealer-quote checklist helps compare complete packages.

Compare the existing PRO-TURN 260 as another configuration, checking its exact generation and equipment rather than treating the higher series number as sufficient justification to upgrade. The 560's advertised commercial warranty is five years/1,500 hours, with no hour limit for the first two years; obtain the detailed terms for the unit, engine and component exceptions. Our provisional assessment favours its deck construction and operator equipment, while leaving observed cut, ride and local value to a demonstration.

Our ZT Score

8.2/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.

  • Cut quality (30%): 8.3/10. 7-gauge X-Factor 3 deck with spindle reinforcement supports the equipment assessment; finish untested.
  • Build & durability (25%): 8.3/10. Parker HTG and tubular frame support a commercial specification; longevity unmeasured.
  • Comfort (20%): 8.4/10. Air-ride seat, lumbar support and armrests offer adjustment; comfort remains personal.
  • Value (15%): 7.6/10. Included operator equipment is useful, but price and attachment costs are unverified.
  • Ease of use (10%): 8.0/10. Accessible filters and seat adjustment aid routine use; powered deck lift is optional.

Provisional research-based editorial judgement, not a hands-on test. We have not measured cut quality, ride, productivity or service life. Model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian prices were not established. Value depends on the application, equipment and local support.
