Gravely Compact-Pro 44 Kawasaki FX600V
The Compact-Pro 44 is the wider-deck alternative within Gravely's compact seated commercial range. Model 991145 combines a nominal 44-inch cut with a 19 hp Kawasaki FX600V and Hydro-Gear ZT-3100 transaxles. This review concerns that documented configuration; it does not establish current dealer inventory or a new model-year release.
Choose between access and pass width
The Compact-Pro 34 is the relevant comparison when narrow entrances dominate the route. The 44 adds ten inches of nominal cutting width, but also requires substantially more clearance. It cannot inherit the smaller model's gate-fit claim.
The factory operator manual, document 05245000 dated September 2018 and hosted by an equipment dealer, lists 46.7 inches with the chute raised and 56.9 inches with it down for 991145. Check the mower's serial range and actual equipment. A raised-chute measurement is for clearance planning, not permission to mow with discharge protection out of position.
Our gate measurement guide covers posts, hinges and the approach. If the 44 cannot reach the lawn, its wider cutting pass offers no advantage there.
Read the powertrain by model number
Gravely's manufacturer bid specifications identify the FX600V, 603cc displacement, ZT-3100 drive and seven-mph forward maximum. Fuel capacity is 7.2 US gallons. None of those figures is a measured productivity or runtime result.
The same document describes a 10-gauge deck shell with reinforcement at the spindle locations. The operator manual specifies a one- to five-inch cutting-height range in quarter-inch increments. Use that manual for adjustment rather than assuming every number in a sales comparison applies to this configuration.
Evaluate the seated layout
The specification lists an EVC suspension seat, foot-operated deck lift and pin selection. Try the seat and repeated height changes before purchase. A compact chassis may suit the route while still feeling cramped to a particular operator; we have not measured vibration or fatigue.
The published commercial warranty is four years/750 hours, with the first two years without an hour limit. Obtain the complete applicable warranty and confirm parts support for the exact serial number, particularly when examining older stock or a used mower. The 44 makes sense when its extra pass width is useful and its complete footprint still fits the work.
Our ZT Score
7.6/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.
- Cut quality (30%): 7.6/10. Reinforced fabricated deck and quarter-inch height selection support setup; finish untested.
- Build & durability (25%): 7.7/10. ZT-3100 drive and reinforced deck support commercial work; used condition and service history matter.
- Comfort (20%): 7.4/10. Documented EVC suspension seat warrants a trial; compact fit and ride remain unmeasured.
- Value (15%): 7.3/10. The wider compact format may suit a route, but availability and comparable prices are unverified.
- Ease of use (10%): 7.7/10. Foot lift and pin settings are useful; 46.7-inch transport width restricts access.
Provisional research-based editorial judgement, not a hands-on test. Cut quality, ride, productivity and service life have not been measured. Model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian prices were not established. Value depends on application and local support.
