Our verdict

Gravely Compact-Pro 34

Most commercial mowers are too wide to fit through a back gate, and the Compact-Pro is Gravely's answer. At 34 inches it slips through gaps as narrow as 36 inches, which makes it ideal for crews juggling fenced suburban yards, yet it keeps commercial hardware where it counts: a Hydro-Gear ZT-3100 drive, a fabricated deck with a lifetime warranty, and a heavy-duty Kawasaki engine. The trade-offs are plain. A 34-inch deck means more laps on open ground, 15.5 horsepower is modest, and there is no suspension seat. For a landscaper working tight, gated properties, or a homeowner with a narrow side passage, it solves a problem bigger machines cannot.
