Our verdict
Exmark Lazer Z E-Series (60-in)
For more than thirty years the Lazer Z has been the mower more landscape professionals choose than any other, and the E-Series is the cheapest door into that line. You still get the UltraCut deck responsible for the reputation, plus maintenance-free spindles and splined blade drivers that stop bolts tightening every time you clip a root. Belts change without tools, which you appreciate when a job runs long. What you give up against the pricier S and X models is a suspension seat and tank size. If you want a commercial cut and can live without the comfort extras, this is a lot of mower for the money.
