Our verdict
Country Clipper XLT 60
The XLT is the top of Country Clipper's residential range, and it hands homeowners most of what the commercial Challenger offers. ContourDTS keeps the deck tracking uneven ground for a cleaner cut and a smoother ride, the patented stand-up deck flips vertical so you can change blades without jacking the machine, and you still get the choice between the point-and-go joystick and twin levers. The drivetrain is residential rather than commercial and it tops out at 8 mph. The dealer network is small, so check what is near you. For a few acres of rolling ground and an owner who wants easy steering and easy maintenance, it is a genuinely well-judged machine.
