Our verdict

Bobcat ZT5000 52

The ZT5000 52 is a commercial mower to compare when a 52-inch cutting width fits the route and a suspension seat is part of the requirement. Its AirFX deck also provides setup features worth discussing with the dealer rather than judging the mower by engine horsepower alone.

Match the 52-inch configuration

Bobcat's manufacturer brochure, hosted by a Bobcat dealer, identifies 9995001 as the 52-inch machine. It pairs a 23.5 hp, 726cc Kawasaki FX730V with Hydro-Gear ZT-3800 transaxles. The current product page confirms the core engine and drive package. Do not substitute the 61-inch sibling's deck or dimensions.

The published forward-speed ceiling is 11 mph, and total fuel capacity is 7.8 gallons. Neither figure tells you how long a job will take: acceptable cutting pace, turns and refueling all depend on the work. Compare the ZT6000 52 if you want another Bobcat at the same nominal width, and request an itemized equipment comparison.

Ask how the deck is set up

The AirFX system includes an adjustable front lip and four adjustable anti-scalp rollers on the 52-inch deck. The listed cutting range is 1.5 to 4.8 inches. Ask the technician which settings are appropriate for your grass and how changes in cutting height affect roller placement.

Our anti-scalp roller guide explains why roller setup and deck leveling are separate checks. It does not prescribe a universal roller gap for this Bobcat. A representative demonstration should include the chosen cut height and approved setup, rather than comparing one freshly adjusted mower against an unknown baseline.

The high-back mechanical suspension seat has fore-aft adjustment. Check control reach after setting the seat. A seat suspension is not the same as suspension at the wheels, and the specification does not establish a measured reduction in fatigue.

Check the warranty document's date

The older brochure carries a three-year warranty headline. Bobcat's current North American mower warranty table, checked October 16, 2026, lists 60 months and 2,000 hours for ZT5000 standard coverage. Its extended-offering table is specifically limited to machines purchased before September 1, 2026.

The September 2026 policy separately limits transaxles to 36 months or 2,000 hours, whichever comes first, and excludes the engine from Bobcat's coverage. Have the dealer confirm which policy applies to the unit's delivery date, use and components. Do not combine an older extended offer with the new standard headline. Our warranty guide provides the questions to record.

Our buying view: ZT5000 52 offers a focused combination of commercial drive, adjustable deck features and a suspension seat. Confirm complete width, service arrangements and current coverage before comparing delivered prices. This is a research assessment, not a field-tested cut-quality ranking.

Our ZT Score

8.0/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.

  • Cut quality (30%): 8.0/10. AirFX setup options and adjustable rollers provide useful control; no comparative cut test was performed.
  • Build & durability (25%): 8.0/10. ZT-3800 drive and commercial frame specification support the rating without proving long-term reliability.
  • Comfort (20%): 8.1/10. A full mechanical suspension seat and adjustment provide comfort potential requiring a personal demonstration.
  • Value (15%): 7.6/10. The commercial drive and seating package are useful if the route needs them; value remains quote-dependent.
  • Ease of use (10%): 7.9/10. Deck adjustments and seat positioning are practical, but correct setup and policy selection need attention.

Provisional research-based editorial assessment of documented equipment, not a hands-on test. Cut finish, ride, service life and fuel consumption have not been measured by ZeroTurn. Reliable model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian prices were not established. Value depends on the complete quote, local support and actual work.
