- +High-back seat with armrests and a vibration-isolating floor mat

Our verdict
Ariens IKON XD 60
The IKON XD 60 gives you a wide fabricated deck and a welded frame for a price that usually buys a stamped deck and bolted sections. That fabricated 60-inch deck is genuinely commercial-style, the frame is fully welded tubular steel, and the Kawasaki FR engine has cast iron liners for the long haul, so the bones are better than the sticker suggests. A high-back seat and isolating floor mat keep it comfortable enough, and you can buy it at Lowe's without hunting for a dealer. The catch is the sealed EZT transmission, which gets replaced rather than serviced, and a slow 7 mph. For three or more open, flat acres on a budget, it is a lot of deck for the money.
