What owners love

  • +MyRIDE suspends the whole operator platform, so it soaks up rough ground
  • +Fabricated IronForged deck rather than a stamped one
  • +Kohler 7000 V-twin is a proven, easy-to-service engine
  • +Smart Speed lets you slow near beds without losing blade speed
  • +Roughly 3,000 Toro dealers across the US and Canada

Worth knowing

  • Only 7 mph, slower than commercial rivals
  • Entry-level ZT-2200 transaxles, not the serviceable commercial units
  • A 54-inch deck needs open space to earn its keep
Our verdict

Toro TimeCutter MyRIDE 54

Most homeowner zero-turns beat you up on rough ground, and the MyRIDE is Toro's fix. Instead of suspending just the seat, it suspends the whole platform you stand and sit on, so dips and ruts arrive as a nudge rather than a jolt. Pair that with a fabricated IronForged deck and a proven Kohler twin and you have a machine that punches above a homeowner badge. It tops out at 7 mph and runs the entry ZT-2200 transaxles, so it is not built for commercial hours. For a couple of bumpy acres and a back that has had enough, the ride alone makes it worth the money.
