Our verdict

Toro GrandStand HDX 60 Kawasaki FX921

The GrandStand HDX 60 model 72510 is a large stand-on built around a 999cc Kawasaki engine and a 60-inch deck. It suits a shortlist where the working areas and access justify that footprint. Its headline speed is less useful than confirming whether the operator, deck and transport arrangements match the route.

Identify the Kawasaki HDX

Toro's 72510 product page lists the 31 hp FX921, Tuff Torq TZT13s integrated transaxles with 13cc pumps, and a maximum forward speed of 12 mph. The tank holds 10.5 US gallons. This is the Kawasaki configuration, not the separate Vanguard EFI HDX variant.

The existing GrandStand Multi Force 60 has a different engine and attachment-focused identity. Do not assume an attachment fits the HDX because both machines carry the GrandStand name. Obtain model-specific compatibility in the quote before including seasonal equipment in the purchase decision.

Check the cutting system at working speed

The 7-gauge Turbo Force deck has three blades and a published 1.5- to five-inch cutting range in quarter-inch steps. Inspect the deck arrangement and ask the dealer to demonstrate height selection. A larger deck can cover a wider strip, but that alone does not establish the time saved after turns, overlap and obstacles.

Our mowing-time guide explains why maximum travel speed should not be entered as a guaranteed cutting speed. Use a representative demonstration to judge the finish at a sensible working pace.

Fit the operator and check the tires

Toro provides a folding platform with suspension and 24-inch drive tires. Try the stance and controls with the suspension functioning as intended, and ask how to prepare the platform for transport. Neither the platform design nor tire size is a general approval for slope operation; follow the exact operator manual and site restrictions.

The current serial-range manual distinguishes pneumatic drive tires from semi-pneumatic front tires. Its pressure check is part of maintaining the correct cutting setup. The pressure-and-uneven-cut guide explains why this check comes before compensating with deck adjustments.

Plan maintenance and support

Toro describes access to the engine, hydraulic components and controls through the service layout, including fuel-tank removal where specified. Follow the manual's preparation and removal procedures; convenient access does not make service safe while running.

The listed limited warranty is five years/1,200 hours, with no hour limit in the first two years. Ask for the full component terms with a delivered quote. Our provisional score recognizes the deck, drive and platform design without claiming measured durability, productivity or standing comfort.

Our ZT Score

7.9/10 — our research-based editorial assessment using the ZeroTurn scoring method.

  • Cut quality (30%): 8.1/10. 7-gauge Turbo Force deck and quarter-inch adjustment support the design; finish untested.
  • Build & durability (25%): 8.1/10. Documented TZT13s drive and reinforced deck support the package; longevity is not measured.
  • Comfort (20%): 7.8/10. Suspension platform and standing space support operator fit, subject to a demonstration.
  • Value (15%): 7.5/10. Large-route suitability depends on access, workload and a delivered quote.
  • Ease of use (10%): 7.9/10. Folding platform and service access help use; the size imposes transport checks.

Provisional research-based editorial judgement, not a hands-on test. We have not measured cut quality, ride, productivity or service life. Model-specific owner consensus and comparable delivered US/Canadian prices were not established. Value depends on the application, equipment and local support.
