What owners love

  • +X-Factor 11-gauge fabricated deck derived from the commercial machines

  • A step up in price from budget 52-inch rivals
Our verdict

Gravely ZT XL 52

The ZT XL is Gravely handing its commercial parts down to a homeowner machine, and the frame is the tell. It is one welded piece rather than the bolted sections you find on cheaper mowers, which is what keeps a deck cutting level after a few hard seasons. The X-Factor fabricated deck comes straight off the commercial line, and the transaxles are serviceable, so a fluid change keeps them going rather than replacing a sealed unit. It only does 7 mph and it is dealer-sold at a step up from budget rivals. For someone with a couple of acres who wants Gravely build without commercial pricing, it fits neatly.
