The Kubota diesel sips fuel next to a petrol twin and keeps pulling in heavy grass, the DuraMax deck is built to be resharpened rather than replaced, and Parker pumps with a design-matched transmission mean the drivetrain is serviceable for years. It also costs about three times a solid homeowner mower, and diesel filters are not cheap. For a groundskeeper, a large estate or anyone mowing many hours a week, the running costs make the maths work. For a weekend lawn it never will.
